What to bring – repellents according to your preferences; Sunscreen lotions; Suitable clothing for cooler evenings; Suitable shoes for walking in wet morning grass; Dark clothes when using the photo hides or avoid bright colors.
Lenses – Between 300-600 mm for full frame cameras; Zooms lenses might be needed sometimes as the distance between the hide and the shooting scene might differ; White lenses (ex. Canon or Sony) should have camouflage coverage or any other dark one;
Climate – The climate in the region of the hides during May and June (birding season) varies. It is Spring, early Summer season, the whether is overall warm and sunny with temperatures between 20-25 degrees during the day, however sometimes is may rain or the evenings might be cooler.
Tripods – All photo hides are furnished with specially designed adjustments for tripod heads and they are placed on counter perfectly suitable to replace the usage of tripod. Be aware that sometimes according to photographers interests we do photos sessions in mobile/portable photo hides or without any (ex. Photographing butterflies or insects) – in this case a tripod will be needed.
Currency – The local currency is Bulgarian Lev. 1 Euro equals 1.95 Bulgarian levs. Please note that the small local shops do not accept credit cards. During the tour you wont need any cash money, this is in case you extend your stay in the country.
Access – The location of the hides is in Northern East part of Bulgaria, on 1:30hrs drive by the town of Varna. The area is named Suha reka and its protected by Natura 2000 because of the birds, butterflies and other animal species. In Varna is located international airport. The other international Bulgarian airport is located in the capital Sofia and Plovdiv. The transfer from Sofia to the location of the hides is approximately 6hrs drive. NB that the included in tour package transfer is only from Varna airport.
Food – You will be provided three meals a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes according to shooting schedule breakfast might be packed. Lunch and dinner are two and three courses. The cuisine is typical Bulgarian cuisine and might includes soups, salads, cooked dishes, local deserts. Please kindly to provide information in advance about any kind of specific food preferences or special diets.
